Not much is known of Henry Clifford except that he was an Irish immigrant practicing law and a radical. He was head of the Old Price Committee and arrested by the keeper of the house James Brandon during the riots. He successfully won a false imprisonment case, this signalling the end of the OP riots. He led the negotiations with Kemble in the meeting of the manager and the OP committee at the Crown and Anchor pub.
